Arzu Rana Files Complaints Against Nine TV Channels

Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, a prominent leader of the Nepali Congress (NC), has taken legal action against nine television channels, alleging the dissemination of objectionable content linking her to Bechan Jha, who was recently arrested in connection with a case involving fake Bhutanese refugees.

The complaint, filed with the Press Council, targets channels such as Kantipur Television HD, Sagarmatha TV, YOHO Television HD, and News24 Nepal. Dr. Deuba asserts that these channels aired misleading reports suggesting her involvement with Bechan Jha, who is accused of acting as a mediator in dealings with high-ranking government officials.

In her statement, Dr. Deuba condemned the media for what she described as baseless and defamatory reporting aimed at tarnishing her reputation. She emphasized that the news coverage linking her name to the ongoing investigation lacks factual basis and is intended solely to damage her character.

“I demand immediate legal action against the editors, publishers, and journalists responsible for fabricating and broadcasting these false accusations,” Dr. Deuba’s personal secretary, Kamal Rawal, stated in the formal complaint. “Furthermore, we urge the removal of all such misleading content from their platforms.”
