Balen Shah Criticizes Gifting Elephant to Qatar, Cites Animal Rights

Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah has openly criticized the Nepal government’s preparation to gift an elephant to Qatar.
Expressing his views on Facebook, Mayor Shah questioned the legality and morality of transporting wild animals to environments like deserts.
He remarked, “Gifting or Selling animal is legal?? I wonder how wild animal can survive in Desert? Animal Rights is a joke, in Nation which sell Human below animal rights in Qatar!!”
During Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s recent two-day visit to Nepal, there was speculation that he would leave with two elephants.
However, it has been clarified that no elephants have been transported as various required procedures are still pending.
