Bir Hospital Halts Surgeries Amid Essential Material Shortage
Bir Hospital in Kathmandu faced a setback as it suspended surgeries due to a scarcity of vital materials, resulting in the cancellation of scheduled operations on Monday. Sources from the hospital reported the issue on February 12.
According to a surgeon at Bir Hospital, today’s planned operation had to be halted due to the unavailability of necessary materials. The shortage has persisted for a week, leading to the disruption of regular operations.
The hospital convened an emergency meeting to address the situation promptly. The surgeon highlighted a budgetary shortfall affecting the procurement of essential materials, reagents, and other critical items vital for the hospital’s operation theater.
“We’ve been grappling with this problem for a week now, and it exacerbated today,” the surgeon stated.
