Birgunj Metropolis Collects Nearly Rs 400 Million in Revenue
Birgunj Metropolis has collected Rs 398 million in revenue over the last 10 months of the current fiscal year, marking an increase of Rs 31.8 million compared to the same period last year.
Despite this growth, the collection falls short of the targeted Rs 700 million, as revised in January. Revenue Division Chief, Manoj Karna, attributed the shortfall to an economic downturn impacting trade activities.
Chief Administrative Officer Matrika Bhattarai also reported challenges in meeting the land tax target of Rs 500 million, with only Rs 139 million collected so far. The downturn in the real estate market has significantly impacted revenue generation, making resource management difficult.
The metropolis collects inland revenue under 24 headings, including house rent, which contributed Rs 49 million this year.
