“Border counterpart meeting” held face to face between Nepal and China
The face to face “Border counterpart meeting” between government officials of Nepal and China has ended at Tatopani, Miteri Pul.
A meeting was held between Sindhupalchowk District Administration, Immigration, Security Agency, Head of Customs and China’s Nyalam County administration, Security Agency, Immigration and other officials.
“Since there is no fear of Covid at the border, the meeting could be held physically,” said Ramesh Neupane, Chief District Officer of Sindhupalchowk. He pointed out that it was an important task to hold a live meeting like this after three years. Neupane, who recently came to the district, has taken initiatives for the operation of the checkpoint.
In the meeting, the officials of both countries openly expressed their views on the border. Deepak Adhikari, Head of Immigration Office Kodari, said that this was a preliminary discussion.
Similarly, in the meeting, there was a common opinion among the officials that there should be sufficient discussion about “cross border crime” before the operation of the checkpoint.
In the meeting, the Chinese officials asked for suggestions from the Nepali officials on what can be done to restore the operation of the Tatopani crossing.
