Bring BRI Agreement to Parliament for Discussion: MP Bajgain

Rajendra Bajgain, a Member of Nepal’s House of Representatives, has demanded the presentation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) agreement between Nepal and China in Parliament.

Speaking during a special session of the House of Representatives on Thursday, he emphasized the need to submit the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the governments of Nepal and China on May 12, 2017 to Parliament.

“The MoU was signed on May 12, 2017. That document is not available in our parliament. I expect that there will be a ruling to make it available for us sovereign Nepalis to see and for the sovereign parliament to read,” he said.

According to MP Bajgain, there should be a discussion on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) document, similar to the debate and discussion that took place in parliament regarding the American cooperation project MCC.

He also mentioned that once the Nepali Congress is no longer in government, the BRI debate will be brought up in Nepal.
