British Minister of State Andrew Mitchell’s Nepal Visit Set for Next Week

British Minister of State in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Andrew Mitchell, is set to embark on a two-day visit to Nepal.

Scheduled for February 12-13, Mitchell’s visit follows closely on the heels of British Army chief Patrick Sanders’ recent four-day trip to Nepal. While an official announcement regarding Mitchell’s visit is pending, diplomatic sources have confirmed the impending arrival.

During his stay, Mitchell is slated to hold discussions with key Nepali figures including President Ram Chandra Paudel, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Finance Minister Prakash Saran Mahat, among others.

The visit coincides with the centennial celebration of the 1923 Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Nepal and Britain, underscoring the historical ties between the two nations.

Having assumed the role of Minister of State at the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office since October 25, 2022, Mitchell’s visit underscores the ongoing diplomatic engagement between Nepal and the United Kingdom.
