Buffalo Kills Tiger in Rare Incident in Makawanpur
In a rare and unprecedented event, a domestic buffalo reared by a farmer in Manahari, Makawanpur, has killed a tiger that ventured out of Chitwan National Park (CNP). The buffalo, owned by Bal Bahadur Rai of Pratappur, Manahari Rural Municipality-6, reportedly fought off the tiger early this morning.
CNP’s Information Officer, Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, confirmed that the tiger died in retaliation to the buffalo’s defense. The buffalo sustained injuries during the attack.
This marks the first incident of its kind within the park and its buffer zone. Tiwari noted that the deceased tiger appeared old and malnourished, likely having left the park in search of food after struggling to hunt within the protected area. The tiger’s body has been transported to the National Park for a post-mortem examination.
