Cabinet Approves PM Dahal’s Visit to India for Modi’s Swearing-in Ceremony
The Cabinet meeting held on Thursday afternoon greenlit Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s official visit to India. The purpose behind this visit is to mark attendance at the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his third term in office, scheduled for Sunday.
Government spokesperson Rekha Sharma confirmed the approval, stating, “The Cabinet meeting has approved PM Dahal’s two-day visit to India.” This visit is set to witness Prime Minister Dahal alongside other distinguished leaders from the region, as mentioned by Indian journalist Sudhir Chaudhary in a recent tweet. Among the attendees are the Bhutanese King, the Sri Lankan President, and the Prime Ministers of Bangladesh and Mauritius, reflecting a gathering of regional significance.
This event harks back to Modi’s historic swearing-in ceremony in 2014, which witnessed the participation of foreign leaders and underscored India’s proactive diplomatic engagements. Modi’s exclusive invitation to leaders of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations for his upcoming ceremony accentuates India’s steadfast commitment to fostering regional cooperation.
