Central Revenue Leakage Control Committee Unveils Comprehensive Plan to Boost Revenue Collection

The Central Revenue Leakage Control Committee has introduced a comprehensive plan to enhance revenue collection in the current fiscal year by addressing revenue leakages and expanding tax-friendly services. The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel, took place today at Singha Durbar and included key figures in revenue collection, such as Minister for Finance Ramesh Lekhak.

The committee discussed and decided on strategies to meet the annual revenue collection targets, focusing on measures to curb revenue leakages. One of the key decisions was to establish a basis for evaluating employees and security personnel in the revenue administration to ensure they contribute effectively to achieving the revenue targets.

A significant outcome of the meeting was the decision to deploy rapid patrolling teams nationwide to tackle revenue leakages. Minister Paudel emphasized the need for the effective implementation of action plans to control revenue leakage. He assured that businesspeople adhering to legal practices would not be inconvenienced, while those involved in illegal financial activities would face strict consequences.

The meeting also highlighted the coordination between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Finance to address revenue leakages. Minister Paudel stressed the importance of regularly rotating employees and security personnel in the revenue administration to prevent the formation of undue relationships that could facilitate revenue leakage.

The plan also includes leveraging technology to combat corruption, with scanners to be used at border points for better scrutiny. The Minister further instructed the promotion of the practice of issuing and receiving invoices and bills, making the classification and evaluation of imported goods more realistic, and investigating potential revenue leakage through fake invoices.

Minister Lekhak urged taxpayers to fulfill their tax obligations and pledged full support from his ministry to achieve revenue targets by controlling revenue leakage. Other participants in the meeting also expressed their commitment to improving information exchange and coordination to effectively control revenue leakages and boost revenue collection.
