Chinese ambassador intensifies political meeting in Nepal ; calls on Chair Nepal after meeting PM Dahal
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song paid a courtesy call on CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal. Ambassador Song reached the Chairman Nepal’s residence in Koteshwor on Wednesday this afternoon.
According to Nepal’s private secretariat, various issues of Nepal-China relations and bilateral interests were discussed during a meeting.
Similarly, Chairman Nepal welcomed the Chinese Ambassador and wished him success in his tenure.
With the date of the presidential election approaching nearer, the meeting between Socialist Chair Nepal and the Chinese Ambassador is seen as meaningful.
Earlier today, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song had meet Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
According to a Baluwatar source, the two discussed the presidential election, which is being held on March 9.
Chinese Ambassador Song has intensified political meetings lately at a time when Nepal’s political leaders are endeavoring to forge consensus on a common candidate for the post of the country’s President. He also met UML Chair KP Sharma Oli on Friday.
China has been struggling for unity and government among leftist parties in Nepal. It has also increased its activity by showing interest in the current controversy in the election of the president.
China, which tried to form an alliance between the communist parties in the last election but failed, has recently been excited after the formation of a government under the leadership of the CPN-Maoist Centre.
China, India, America and the European Union have been showing interest in the presidential election of Nepal.
The Election Commission is holding the election for the post of President on March 9.
