Chinese President Xi holds phone call with Ukraine’s counterpart
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he held a “long and meaningful” call with China’s Xi Jinping and welcomed Beijing’s appointment of a new ambassador to Ukraine.
The call is the first between the leaders since the war began.
“I believe that this call, as well as the appointment of Ukraine’s ambassador to China, will give a powerful impetus to the development of our bilateral relations,” Zelenskyy said in a tweet.

According to Chinese state media, Xi highlighted that the complex evolution of the war in Ukraine has had a significant impact on the world and said Beijing stood on the side of peace.
