Cholera Outbreak: 25 Cases Confirmed Nationwide
The number of people infected with cholera has reached 25 in the country, according to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD). The acute diarrhoeal infection was confirmed in two more individuals in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 25.
So far, Godawari Municipality in Lalitpur district has reported 16 cases, Tokha Municipality in Kathmandu district has recorded eight cases, and one case has been identified in Dhangadi Sub-Metropolitan City in Kailali district.
Cholera, a bacterial disease, is transmitted to humans through the consumption of food and water contaminated with Vibrio cholerae bacteria. Public health experts advise the public to pay special attention to essential sanitation practices and to drink boiled water to prevent the spread of this water-borne disease.
