CIAA’s 33rd Establishment Day: President Paudel Emphasizes Fight Against Corruption

In a poignant address marking the 33rd establishment day of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), President Ramchandra Paudel has reiterated the urgent need to combat corruption, citing it as a formidable obstacle to the nation’s development and progress. Speaking at a program organized for the occasion, the Head of State emphasized that corruption and corrupt attitudes have not only eroded moral values but have also weakened the very foundation of the nation.

President Paudel highlighted political determination as the crucial starting point in the fight against corruption, stressing that transparency and accountability in governance play pivotal roles in curbing corrupt practices. He urged all public entities to uphold transparency in their actions and decisions, emphasizing that such transparency is intrinsic to the spirit of Nepal’s federal democratic republic system, which was achieved through the sacrifices and struggles of its citizens.

Underlining the importance of transforming the existing working culture to contain corruption, President Paudel called upon the CIAA to ensure impartiality in its investigations and subsequent prosecutions. He emphasized that good governance is the lifeline of democracy and essential for achieving economic prosperity and social justice.

President Paudel further urged individuals to embrace simplicity, integrity, transparency, and good conduct, while also urging the CIAA to prioritize the public’s interest and ensure that high-profile individuals are not exempt from accountability for abuse of authority and corruption.

Expressing hope for increased awareness against corruption and Nepal’s improvement in the global corruption index, President Paudel called for a collective effort from all sectors of society, including the three-tier government, civil society, private sector, media, and citizens, to combat corruption effectively.
