CoAS Sharma Embarks on Official Visit to China

The Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Prabhuram Sharma, departed for Beijing today on an official visit to the People’s Republic of China. His visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and promoting military cooperation between Nepal and China.

At Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Defence Secretary Kiran Raj Sharma and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Sitaram Khadka bid farewell to the CoAS as he embarked on his journey.

During his visit to China, CoAS Sharma will participate in the opening ceremony of the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum. This forum serves as an important platform for discussions on security and defense matters in the Asia-Pacific region. He is also scheduled to hold a meeting with General Liu Zhenli, the Joint Chief of Staff of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People’s Liberation Army.

Additionally, CoAS Sharma’s itinerary includes visits to various military units and academic institutions in China, including cities like Xian, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

The visit is expected to strengthen military-to-military cooperation and foster goodwill between Nepal and China. CoAS Sharma is scheduled to return to Nepal on November 2.

In his absence, Lieutenant General Sitaram Khadka will take on the role of acting army chief, ensuring the continuity of leadership within the Nepali Army.
