Controversy within Congress flares up, alliance becoming suspicious

As the dissatisfaction within the Nepali Congress regarding seat distribution is growing up, other parties in the ruling coalition have become suspicious.

The division within the NC has arisen as seat distribution among the ruling coalition partners is getting trickier.

At the 14th convention,  the group of Shekhar Koirala, who contested for the chairmanship against Sher Bahadur Deuba, threatened to correct their candidacy on the proportional side and also has demanded 40 percent in the direct side as well.

The Koirala faction had demanded at least 40 percent of the seats in the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections in the upcoming elections.

Only on Saturday the leaders of the Shekhar-Gagan faction organized a “vigilance assembly”   at Anupam Foodland and warned of rebellion if the proportional list submitted on 19 September is not changed.

They emphasized keeping the people and cadres at the center of the election agenda.

The faction warned the establishment faction that if they are not treated fairly, even the alliance would face various difficulties.

A similar gathering is continuing in Thamel on Monday as well.

Leaders who have been doing rebel activities have been warning that if President Deuba does not pay attention to the power equation within the party, they will rebel in the election as well.
They have said that if their demands are not met in time, they will not vote for any election symbol other than the Congress symbol tree.
