Corruption Case Filed Against 187 Individuals
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken decisive action against alleged corruption, filing a significant case at the Special Court. On Sunday, a corruption case was lodged against 187 individuals concerning the illicit registration of public land in Damak, Jhapa.
Narahari Ghimire, spokesperson for the anti-graft body, revealed that the chargesheet targets Ramdev Mandal Dhanuk, who served as the surveyor officer at the survey office in Jhapa, among others. They stand accused of exploiting their positions for personal gain by transferring government-owned land into private hands.
Notably, the defendants include government officials directly involved in the fraudulent transactions, alongside 65 individuals in whose names the land was unlawfully registered. Additionally, 113 others have been implicated in the scheme to reclaim the misappropriated land, as detailed by the commission.
