CPN (UML) Urges PM KP Sharma Oli to Address Key Development Issues in Kathmandu
The CPN (UML) Kathmandu district committee has called on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to prioritize reforms in critical areas such as health, drinking water, drainage, roads, food security, and the environment within the Kathmandu Valley.
A delegation led by Dr. Rajan Bhattarai, CPN (UML)’s Bagmati province in-charge, along with district committee chair Deepak Niraula and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol, met with Prime Minister Oli at his official residence in Baluwatar on Sunday evening. The delegation urged the Prime Minister to expedite the remaining work on the Nagmati Dam project at Sundarijal in Kathmandu-3 and to advance the recharge plan in various parts of the Valley.
In addition to these demands, the delegation called for the beautification of rivers within the Valley and the establishment of a long-term solution to the ongoing waste management issues. They also sought a judicial review of the Supreme Court’s decision that prohibits the construction of structures on an extra 20 meters of land beyond the areas already designated to be left on both sides of the river within Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
In response, Prime Minister Oli, who also serves as the chairperson of the CPN (UML), assured the delegation that the government would take proactive steps to address these pressing issues, emphasizing the need to improve the living conditions for the people of Kathmandu Valley.
