
CPN (US) decides in favor of giving vote of confidence to PM Prachanda


The Unified Socialist Party has decided to give a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”.
Party Spokesperson Jagannath Khatiwada said that a meeting of the party’s Secretariat held on Tuesday morning decided to conditionally support the government but remain in the opposition.
The party has 10 members in the House of Representatives.
Prime Minister Dahal is seeking a vote of confidence in today’s meeting of the parliament as per the constitutional provision.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari appointed CPN (Maoist Centre) chair Dahal as prime minister on December 25 after he showed the support of 169 lawmakers. As per the constitutional provision, a prime minister appointed under Article 76(2) needs to secure a vote of confidence from the parliament within 30 days of the appointment.
