CTEVT students to be hired in Energy Ministry’s projects
In a bid to promote the concept of ‘learning by earning’, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for skill enhancement and apprenticeship of the CTEVT students.
The MoU is expected to ensure skills enhancement of the students of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) through workplace learning.
As per the MoU, the CTEVT students will be hired in the projects under the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation in the apprenticeship model.
The MoU was signed on Thursday by Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet and Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sumana Shrestha.
On the occasion, Minister Shrestha viewed that our education should ensure skills to the workforce to meet the demand for our labour market. “We can retain our youths in the country only by providing them employment,” Minister Shrestha added.
Likewise, Minister Basnet stated that the MoU is aimed at developing labour culture and imparting practical skills by taking the students to the workplace.
He termed the MoU a milestone to connect the CTEVT students to the workplace and labour.
Saying that such best practices would be expanded if the MoU were well implemented, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Kulman Ghising shared the performance of the interns hired by the NEA for its different projects is highly praiseworthy.
The Ministry of Education shall develop the curriculum of the concerned themes while the Ministry of Energy shall ensure economic support to the Ministry of Education as per the existing rules of the CTEVT.
