Defence Minister Khakda makes onsite visit of Swayambhu ordnance factory
Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka today made an onsite visit to the Nepali Army’s Swayambhu Ordnance Factory.
Inspecting the 97-year-old Barudkhana, Deputy Prime Minister Khadka clarified that he would take initiatives for regular and smooth supply of explosive materials, required for the Nepali Army for development construction activities.
Involving in the production and research of military hardware since around 100 years, the Barudkhana has increased pride of Nepali Army and human resources working in it, he said and urged to give high priority to personal safety while manufacturing military ordnance and research.
The Defence Minister also shared on the occasion that the government would take initiative soon to produce explosive materials as its production has been stopped in lack of raw materials for the past few years.
Stating that it was necessary to develop capacity of Swayamabhu ordnance factory, he clarified that the government was always positive for policy-level decisions for the same.
On the occasion, DPM Khadka observed the lab and production plant of the Ordnance Factory, and also took information from the officials concerned.
DPM and Defence Minister Khadka was accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma, the Defence Secretary Kiran Raj Sharma and other high-ranking Army officials during the inspection tour.
