Dengue Claims Three Lives in Tanahu
Three individuals have succumbed to dengue infection in the Tanahu district over the past two months. All three fatalities occurred in the Byas Municipality.
The victims, identified as a 35-year-old man from Ward No. 10, a 15-year-old boy from Ward No. 11, and a 13-year-old girl from Ward No. 2, tragically lost their lives to dengue between July 1 and September 25. The local health authorities have confirmed the increasing spread of dengue in Damauli for several months.
Currently, the Byas Municipality alone is grappling with 1,350 dengue cases, prompting urgent action. To address the growing crisis, the municipality is mobilizing additional health workers to support Damauli Hospital, which has been struggling with a shortage of human resources to provide adequate care.
Health officials have announced plans to send a doctor, two lab technicians, and two additional personnel to the emergency section of the hospital. Concurrently, the municipality has launched a comprehensive public awareness campaign in all villages and initiated a “search and destroy” operation to control the spread of dengue.
With dengue patients dominating the healthcare landscape in Damauli Hospital, Shankar Babu Adhikari, Chief of the Health Office in Tanahu, expressed concern about the shortage of available beds in health facilities. He urged the public to remain vigilant against dengue infection and underscored the need for increased preparedness to combat this growing health crisis.
