Dismal Progress in Government’s Annual Targets: Only 42% of Activities Completed
The government has fallen short of its goals for the fiscal year 2080/81, as revealed in the “Annual Report of Policy and Main Functions,” published by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM). According to the report, only 42% of planned activities and 48.5% of milestones were achieved.
Out of 1,600 activities outlined for 27 agencies, just 41.7% were completed, while 48.5% of 3,421 milestones were met. In the economic sector, only 167 out of 414 activities were completed. Similarly, the infrastructure and governance sectors saw only 109 of 500 and 211 of 392 activities completed, respectively.
The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration had the highest performance rate at 87%, while the Ministry of Urban Development lagged at just 9%. The Public Procurement Office and Ministry of Finance also had poor showings, with 21% and 29% completion rates.
Reasons for the delays included lack of human resources, project leadership changes, legal complications, land acquisition issues, and contractor delays.
