Distribution of 11 Ambassadorial Positions: 8 to UML, 2 to RSP, 1 to Maoists

Nepal’s three major ruling coalition parties, CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Center), and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), have reached a crucial agreement regarding the allocation of ambassadorial posts.

A high-level meeting convened at Singha Durbar on Thursday evening, attended by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, UML Chairman KP Oli, and RSP President Rabi Lamichhane, culminated in a consensus on the distribution of 11 ambassadorial positions among the parties.

According to reliable sources, the distribution stands as follows: CPN (UML) will secure eight ambassadorial posts, RSP will occupy two, and CPN (Maoist Center) will fill one ambassadorial position.

The decision comes in the wake of a previous Council of Ministers meeting on June 6, which had decided to recall Nepali ambassadors from 11 countries, including strategic posts such as the United Kingdom, India, and the United States.

Preparations are now underway within the government to swiftly appoint ambassadors to these vacant positions. Sources from Baluwatar indicate that some ambassadorial appointments could be finalized as early as today, with a scheduled cabinet meeting set to convene later this afternoon to discuss further details.
