Doctors Persist in Protests for Workplace Safety
In a powerful display of unity and concern for their workplace safety, healthcare professionals, including doctors, took to the streets of Kathmandu on Thursday. The demonstration unfolded along the Nayabaneshwar-Maitighar road section, as doctors from Babar Mahal marched toward Nayabaneshwar Chowk.
However, their path was abruptly halted by a substantial police presence, strategically deployed to safeguard the restricted area. Despite the peaceful nature of their protest, the doctors earnestly requested permission to continue their demonstration.
Regrettably, the police firmly denied their request, insisting that entry into the restricted area was off-limits. In response, the doctors passionately chanted slogans, demanding an end to what they perceived as police repression.
This protest follows a recent surge in demonstrations by resident doctors in Kathmandu after some of their colleagues were subjected to violence within hospital premises. The healthcare professionals are determined to ensure their safety and are calling for urgent measures to address the ongoing issues within their workplaces.
