In the meeting held at the DPM’s office in Singha Durbar, the two discussed Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s impending visit to India, historic ties between the two countries, continuous cooperation and border security among others, according to the Secretariat of DPM Shrestha.

Setting up an ‘Integrated Check Post’ at Rupaidiya (Nepalgunj), Sunauli (Bhairahawa) and Dodhara Chandani areas also figured during the discussion between them. In the meeting, DPM Shrestha informed that PM Dahal’s official visit to India would be decided very soon, said the Secretariat.

Expressing his confidence that the Nepal-India ties would be further deepened during the tenure of the incumbent government, DPM Shrestha voiced that there should be an open dialogue between the two countries on sensitive issues such as border management and combating the cross-border crimes.

Indian envoy Srivastava responded that he was actively working to materialize PM Dahal’s proposed India visit.

Extending best wishes to DPM Shrestha for successful delivery on challenging responsibility of the Minister for Home Affairs, he expressed thankfulness to the DPM for collaborating with India during stint as the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport.

Srivastava viewed that both sides should be sensitive so that citizens who regularly cross the border do not suffer criminal behavior.

He shared that agreement was made in the meeting of the Joint Working Group on Border Management held last year in New Delhi to resolve the dispute relating to the development and construction projects in the places adjacent to the bordering area and articulated the Indian side’s readiness to cooperate in the matter.
