Dr. Aryal appointed as Chief Secretary, Bairagi as Security Adviser

The government has decided to promote Secretary Dr. Baikunth Aryal as Chief Secretary. An emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers held some time ago made Aryal the Chief Secretary.

Earlier, Dr Aryal served as the Secretary of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply. The cabinet meeting has approved the resignation of outgoing Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi.

The government has also decided to appoint Bairagi as the advisor to National Security Council.

Dr. Aryal, whose 5-year term of the secretary is ending on June 18, has been appointed as the chief secretary.

Similarly, the current Chief Secretary Shankar Bairagi, whose 3-year term of the Secretary General will end on October 5, is being prepared to be sent to the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, where Amrit Rai’s additional term will end on June 30.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has given him the oath of advisor of the National Security Council.
