Dr. Gargi Sharma Honored with ‘Rudraraj Literary Award’

Dr. Gargi Sharma has been awarded the prestigious ‘Rudraraj Literary Award’ by the Rudraraj Literary Service Committee in recognition of her significant contributions to Nepali literature.

The award was presented by Dibya Satabdipurush Dr. Gaurishankar Lal Das during a special ceremony in Kathmandu on Monday, marking the 125th birth anniversary of Sardar Rudra Raj Pande. The honor includes a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a letter of appreciation.

Dr. Sharma was recognized for her dedication to Nepali literature and her relentless efforts in enriching the literary landscape.

Sardar Rudra Raj Pande, a revered literary figure, is best known for his novel Rupamati, which remains a favorite among Nepali readers. He made significant contributions across various literary genres, including novels, drama, humor, and satire, while also playing a crucial role in education and social reform in Nepal.

During the event, outstanding students from Bhanu Secondary School who excelled in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) were also felicitated.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Das highlighted Pande’s enduring legacy in shaping Nepali literature, while Committee Chairman Badri Raj Pande emphasized his contributions to social reform through his literary works.

Dr. Sharma, upon receiving the award, expressed that Pande remains a source of inspiration for the present generation.

Cultural expert Dr. Govinda Tandan further elaborated on how Pande’s writings have influenced Nepali literature and cultural development.
