Durga Prasai Faces Black Soot Attack in Capital

Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, known for his controversial statements, faced an unusual incident in Kathmandu. While holding a press conference at a hotel in the capital, Prasai was targeted by unknown individuals who applied black soot on his face as he left the program hall.

The press conference, which took place at 12:45 in the afternoon, was related to Prasai’s invitation to former king Gyanendra Shah to Jhapa, where he announced the ‘Nation, Nationality, Religion- Culture and Citizen Rescue Campaign’. This campaign has been a source of controversy due to Prasai’s statements targeting various other businessmen.

Notably, in February of the previous year, Prasai had announced the formation of a ‘black soot squad’ aimed at smearing black soot on the heads of banks and financial institutions. Following this announcement, the police had arrested the central coordinator of the squad, Shambhu Thapa.
