EC Appeals to Eligible Voters: Ensure Inclusion in Electoral Roll

The Election Commission (EC) of Nepal has issued a public appeal to all eligible citizens who missed registering their names in the voters’ list due to various reasons. The EC is urging individuals, particularly those from concerned local levels, province assembly constituencies, and House of Representatives constituencies, to complete their voter registration before the announcement of the date for the upcoming by-election.

With 23 posts left vacant across different local levels, province assemblies, and the House of Representatives following the elections held on April 23 and November 20, 2023, the EC is gearing up for the by-election. The Commission has initiated internal preparations and is consulting with the government of Nepal to determine the appropriate time for the by-poll.

The EC’s press release, delivered by spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel, highlights the ongoing efforts to register voter names through province and district election offices. The Commission expresses confidence that, in accordance with existing legal provisions related to voter registration, all eligible Nepali citizens across the country will be included in the electoral roll.

The EC’s proactive approach aims to ensure the comprehensive representation of citizens in the democratic process, fostering an inclusive and participatory electoral system. Eligible voters are encouraged to take heed of this call and register their names promptly to exercise their democratic right in the upcoming by-election.
