EU Ambassador Veronique Lorenzo Meets Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli

The Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Nepal, Ms. Veronique Lorenzo, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at his office in Singha Durbar today.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli expressed his appreciation for the European Union’s ongoing cooperation in Nepal’s economic and social development. He also briefed Ambassador Lorenzo on the progress related to transitional justice, stating that the remaining work of the peace process would be finalized based on political agreement.

PM Oli informed that the bill designed to amend the Commission on Investigation of Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Act-2071 BS is progressing. The amendments are aligned with the spirit of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA), the directives of the Supreme Court, international practices, and the concerns of the survivors.

Highlighting the milestone of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the European Union, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the importance of continued support from development partners as Nepal aims to graduate to developing country status by 2026 and achieve middle-income status by 2030. He reiterated Nepal’s commitment to poverty alleviation, economic development, democracy, and human rights.

Ambassador Lorenzo conveyed her best wishes for the success of the government’s priorities and objectives. She also extended her wishes for a successful term in office to Prime Minister Oli.
