Ex-PM Madhav Nepal Scraps China Trip
Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) and former Prime Minister, Madhav Kumar Nepal, has decided to cancel his visit to China scheduled for this week.
Chairman Nepal, a prominent figure known for his active engagement in international affairs, had finalized preparations for his visit to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, at the invitation of the Chinese government. However, citing undisclosed reasons, he opted to forego the trip.
The cancellation of Chairman Nepal’s visit has raised eyebrows and prompted speculation regarding the underlying motives behind this abrupt change in plans. While no official statement has been issued regarding the specific reasons for the cancellation, analysts suggest that it might be indicative of shifting diplomatic strategies or internal party dynamics within Nepal.
Despite Chairman Nepal’s absence, Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) will not be entirely absent from the diplomatic engagement with China. A seven-member delegation, led by Party Vice Chairman Pramesh Kumar Hamal, is set to embark on the trip to Chengdu on Thursday.
