Fake Bhutanese Refugee Scam: Former Lawmaker Ang Tawa Sherpa Wanted For Arrest
Former Nepali Congress lawmaker Ang Tawa Sherpa has been issued an arrest warrant by the Ramechhap District Court for his alleged involvement in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam. Sherpa has been accused of duping numerous people by promising them migration to the United States as fake refugees.
The police have reported that Sherpa met with Sanu Bhandari, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the scam, while in custody. The arrest warrant for Sherpa is in connection with the same case that has already led to the arrest of influential Nepali Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand.
Currently in custody, Khand is also suspected to have played a role in the scam. Additionally, the police have obtained a warrant to arrest CPN-UML secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who is currently on the run.
Rayamajhi, who has been suspended from his party position, is believed to have also been involved in the scam. The investigation into the scam has been ongoing, and these recent developments are seen as significant steps towards bringing those responsible to justice.
