Female Police Officer Shot Dead in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolis
Dhanmaya Gurung, a female police officer on duty, was fatally shot in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolis of Dang. Chief District Officer Ram Bandhu Subedi confirmed that the shooting occurred at Damodar Chowk on Thursday evening.
Dhanmaya Gurung was rushed to Rapti Institute of Health Sciences for medical treatment, where she was pronounced dead by attending doctors. The assailant was identified as her husband, Assistant Constable Yam Bahadur Jhakri, who serves as the Chief of Lumbini Police Office, according to Kuber Kadayat, Chief of the Kuber Kadayat.
Yam Bahadur, who normally works at a training center in Nepalgunj, reportedly arrived in Ghorahi on Thursday and committed the heinous act. Following the incident, he fled the scene, but law enforcement authorities managed to apprehend him near Arjun Khola in Lamhi.
Chief District Officer Subedi revealed that the tragic event unfolded around 7:30 pm. The motive behind the murder remains unknown, and investigations are currently underway, as stated by Kadayat, chief of the Lumbini Province Police Office.
