Finance Minister Asserts Budget Integrity Amidst Speculation
In a recent press conference held at the Ministry, Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat addressed concerns regarding the budget of the current fiscal year. Refuting claims of budget reduction, Minister Mahat emphasized the inviolability of the budget passed by the sovereign parliament.
Amidst speculation circulating in various media outlets, Minister Mahat clarified that the budget evaluation conducted mid-term should not be misconstrued as budget cuts. He reassured the public, urging clarity and dispelling any confusion regarding the matter.
During the press conference, Minister Mahat highlighted the positive trajectory of revenue collection, noting a commendable 10 percent increase compared to the previous fiscal year. Looking ahead, Minister Mahat outlined the fiscal projections for the upcoming fiscal year 2024/25, disclosing a budget ceiling of Rs 1.8 trillion. This strategic planning aims to maintain fiscal discipline while facilitating sustainable economic growth.
With the current fiscal year’s budget standing at Rs 1.751 trillion, Minister Mahat reiterated the government’s dedication to fiscal responsibility, ensuring that expenditure remains in line with revenue projections.
