Finance Minister Condemns UML for Unwarranted Parliament Disruption

Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, the finance minister, has strongly criticized the main opposition party, CPN (UML), for impeding parliamentary proceedings through the unnecessary escalation of trivial matters. Addressing a press conference convened by the Nepali Congress in Janakpurdham, under the aegis of Madhes Province, the finance minister denounced the obstruction of the parliamentary platform, emphasizing the vital role it plays as the voice of the people’s representatives.

Minister Mahat underscored the illogicality of obstructing the parliamentary process, asserting, “The parliament is a cornerstone of democratic governance and a platform through which the voices of the people are heard. It is inconceivable for any party to hinder its functioning needlessly.”

While the main opposition party indeed holds the prerogative to offer constructive guidance to the government and stage protests in pursuit of meaningful progress, immobilizing the parliamentary machinery has regrettably stalled the presentation of several critical bills. Crucial discussions on pressing matters and the enactment of essential legislation have also been compromised as a result, lamented FM Mahat.

Addressing the challenges surrounding budget allocation, the Finance Minister expounded on the complexities of catering to various geographical and regional demands within the Madhes Province. He cited the limitations posed by the current economic landscape, acknowledging that resource constraints have impeded the allocation of substantial funds to specific target areas.

“Due to the existing economic conditions and resource limitations, it has been a formidable task to allocate a comprehensive budget to all areas. I urge the residents of specific geographies or regions not to misconstrue this as discriminatory,” implored Minister Mahat, as he appealed for understanding amidst the budgetary challenges.

In navigating these intricate economic realities, the finance minister reinforced the government’s commitment to equitable resource distribution and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable growth.
