Finland Tops Happiness Rankings, Nepal Ranks 93rd

Finland continues its reign as the happiest country in the world for the seventh consecutive year, according to the latest findings from the annual World Happiness Report. The Nordic nation, renowned for its high quality of life and social support systems, maintains its position at the helm of global happiness.

The report, which surveyed individuals in 143 countries and territories, evaluates various factors contributing to overall well-being, including GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and corruption.

Finland’s neighboring countries Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland also hold firm in the top 10, reflecting the broader trend of Scandinavian nations excelling in happiness metrics.

However, amidst the triumph of happiness, there are stark reminders of global disparities. Afghanistan, grappling with ongoing humanitarian crises exacerbated by political instability, remains at the bottom of the happiness index. The survey highlights the immense challenges faced by its populace in the wake of the Taliban’s resurgence in 2020.

In the broader ranking, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Kuwait, Austria, Canada, Belgium, Ireland, Czechia, Lithuania, and the USA claim positions from eleventh to twentieth, showcasing a diverse array of nations committed to fostering happiness among their citizens.

Across Asia, Singapore clinches the 30th spot, followed closely by Japan at 51st. Notably, Thailand secures the 58th position, with Malaysia trailing closely behind at 59th, while China settles at 60th.

In the South Asian region, Nepal emerges at 93rd place, reflecting a middling performance in happiness metrics. India, at 126th place, lags significantly behind Nepal, while Pakistan secures a slightly better position at 108th. Sri Lanka ranks at 128th, underscoring the nuanced variations in happiness levels within the region.

As the world grapples with myriad challenges, from economic uncertainty to environmental degradation, the pursuit of happiness remains a universal aspiration. The World Happiness Report serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of holistic well-being in fostering resilient and thriving societies worldwide.
