First Lady Radhika Shakya Publishes Autobiography ‘Karuna’

Radhika Shakya, spouse of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, has released her autobiography, Karuna.
The book was jointly launched by CPN-UML Deputy Secretary General Pradeep Gyawali, renowned writer Amar Neupane, and Buddhist nun Ani Chhoing Dolma at a special event in Kathmandu, where PM Oli was the Chief Guest. The release coincided with the couple’s 37th wedding anniversary.
Published by Panini Books, Karuna captures key moments of Shakya’s life, highlighting her experiences, struggles, successes, and contributions to social service. It details her journey from childhood, education, and career to her marriage with PM Oli.
Speaking at the event, Shakya noted that while she is not a professional writer, she has always had a habit of jotting down her thoughts. “Since childhood, I have felt deep compassion for the poor, sick, and helpless. Interestingly, my marriage to PM Oli was also influenced by this very sense of karuna (compassion),” she shared.
Shakya and PM Oli tied the knot on Falgun 10, 2044 BS. During the event, Panini Books honored Shakya with a letter of felicitation. The program was attended by ministers, high-ranking officials, and dignitaries.
