Flight Chaos in Nepal: Adverse Weather Causes Diversions and Delays
Adverse weather conditions have wreaked havoc on air travel across Nepal. Tribhuvan International Airport, the country’s primary aviation hub, faced disruptions as a sudden storm swept through the region, affecting both domestic and international flights.
Subas Jha, the spokesperson for the airport, highlighted the impact of the inclement weather. Domestic flights were forced to divert from their intended routes, while several international flights experienced delays. Some international flights were redirected to alternative destinations to ensure passenger safety.
Buddha Air, a prominent domestic airline, encountered challenges with its flights. A flight bound for Kathmandu from Nepalgunj was compelled to return to Bhairahawa, while another flight from Simara was diverted back to its origin.
Similarly, Yeti Airlines faced complications with its flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu, prompting the aircraft to return to the capital city.
