FNCCI Launches Green Growth Advisory Service to Foster Sustainable Economic Practices

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has inaugurated a Green Growth Advisory Service with the aim of championing environmentally sustainable practices to stimulate economic growth.

The FNCCI, as the foremost representative body of the private sector, envisions actively advocating for eco-friendly initiatives that concurrently propel economic development. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), seeks to organize awareness campaigns at various administrative levels, emphasizing employment skill development, green employment, and a just transition. Special focus will be given to industrial corridors, industrial areas, and villages during these campaigns.

Moreover, the advisory service will play a pivotal role in formulating strategies and action plans to bolster the green economy. This strategic move was officially unveiled at the FNCCI Secretariat, with the ceremony attended by prominent figures such as Prakash Pantha, Chairperson of the Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee at the National Assembly; FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal; and ILO Country Director Numan Özcan.

Prakash Pantha lauded FNCCI’s commitment to steering the Nepali industry toward embracing green growth, stating that such initiatives are highly commendable. FNCCI President Dhakal underscored the potential benefits of integrating green growth practices within Nepali businesses and industries, asserting that this shift would not only positively impact the environment and society but also create avenues for economic growth, market competition, and long-term sustainability.

Expressing satisfaction at the collaboration, ILO Country Director Numan Özcan highlighted the commitment of the United Nations, including ILO, to prioritize green initiatives in pursuit of sustainable development goals. The FNCCI’s Green Growth Advisory Service, with technical assistance from ILO, is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping Nepal’s economic landscape towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.
