FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal Emphasizes Private Sector’s Role in Advancing SDGs
Kathmandu, October 10: Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), underscored the critical role played by the private sector in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Speaking at the 7th South and South-West Asia Sub-regional Forum on SDGs, jointly organized by FNCCI in collaboration with the National Planning Commission and the United Nations, President Dhakal emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation as essential drivers to achieve SDGs.
His focus areas included poverty reduction, hunger eradication, climate action, justice, and sustainable partnerships. President Dhakal stressed that the private sector is not merely a financial contributor but also a catalyst for economic growth, job creation, and technological advancement—all crucial elements for the success of SDGs.
Dhakal elaborated on how the private sector contributes by generating employment opportunities, investing in healthcare and education, promoting gender equality, facilitating infrastructure development, supporting climate change mitigation, and conserving the environment.
The FNCCI President also highlighted the significance of public-private cooperation and international collaboration in addressing global challenges. He called for business-friendly policies that strike a balance between incentives and regulations while ensuring transparency and accountability.
