Foreign Minister leaving for Geneva to attend UNHRC session
According to the Ministry, Nepal will apprise the session of its commitments to the human rights issues and actions and progress for the protection and promotion of human rights.
The Ministry said Nepal’s participation in the event would be significant to inform the global forum about Nepal’s endeavors for the improvement of human rights. Moreover it would provide a forum to increase our presence in the UN system.
Nepal’s specific focus will be on making the international forum aware of Nepal’s actions and achievements in regard with transitional justice. According to Ministry Spokesperson Sewa Lamsal, the Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings and meetings with UNHRC high commissioner and the ILO director general on the sidelines of the Session.
The Minister will fly to Doha of Qatar on March 3 from Geneva to attend the Fifth Conference of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) under the leadership of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. The Minister will return home on March 7.
