Foreign Minister Pays Tribute to Nepal’s First Female Ambassador Bindeshwari Shah

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba paid homage to Nepal’s first female ambassador, Bindeshwari Shah, who passed away this morning at the age of 92.

Minister Deuba visited Shah’s residence in Kalimati, Kathmandu, this afternoon to honor her legacy. She laid a bouquet of flowers on Shah’s mortal remains as a mark of respect.

Shah, a trailblazer in Nepal’s foreign service, was appointed as Nepal’s ambassador to India in 2044 BS, becoming the first woman to hold such a position. Her appointment marked a significant milestone in the country’s diplomatic history, paving the way for greater female representation in Nepal’s international relations.

The late ambassador is remembered for her exemplary service and contributions to strengthening Nepal’s global ties.
