Former PM Jhalanath Khanal defeated in Ilam-1, UML’s Basnet elected

Former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has been defeated in the election race of House of Representatives from Ilam Constituency-1.
Mahesh Basnet of CPN-UML has been elected from the constituency by defeating Khanal by a margin of 2,957 votes.
Former PM Khanal had won all the elections from this constituency except 2056 BS.
