Founder of Tootle, Sixit Bhatta, Arrested

Sixit Bhatta, the founder of the once-popular ride-sharing app Tootle, has been arrested by the Kathmandu Police Range on Thursday night. Valley Police Chief SSP Bhupendra Khatri revealed that the arrest was made in connection to allegations of copyright infringement and criminal treachery.

The dispute revolves around Tootle, with initial complaints filed by Bhatta’s business partners with the office of the Registrar of Copyrights. The disagreement subsequently escalated to involve law enforcement. SSP Bhupendra Khatri stated, “It looks like a dispute between partners; we have called the other side to gather more information.”

Tootle initially gained prominence in Nepal after its introduction during the economic blockade. However, with the emergence of competitors such as Pathao and InDrive, Tootle faced fierce competition and eventually ceased operations. Despite these challenges, the ride-sharing app was relaunched a few months ago, aiming for a comeback in the market.
