Gairigaon mass murder case: Court Sends Murder Suspect to Judicial Custody

The Kathmandu District Court has taken a significant step in the case of the murder of four individuals, sending 23-year-old Sanjaya Bhandari to judicial custody. Bhandari, originally from Barhabise Municipality-9 in Sindhupalchowk, was formally charged by the District Government Attorney’s Office in Kathmandu for the gruesome murder.

The horrifying incident occurred on September 15, when four people were found brutally murdered at a sawmill in Gairigaun, Kathmandu. The victims have been identified as Purna Bahadur Bhujel, his wife Ambika, and his mother Subhadra, all from Kalinchok-8 in Dolakha, as well as Nabin Rai (19) from Bhirgaun, Dhankuta.

Remarkably, Bhandari, who is hearing and speech impaired, was apprehended by the police on September 17. According to authorities, he communicated, with the assistance of a sign language expert, that his initial target was Bishal Rai due to a personal dispute. Tragically, he confessed to taking the lives of the other three individuals because they had witnessed the crime. This shocking revelation has added a chilling dimension to an already distressing case.
