Gautam Buddha International Airport Welcomes Three International Flights Today

Bhairahawa’s Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) saw a notable increase in international traffic today, with flights from three different airlines, marking a milestone for the newly operational airport. Jazeera Airways, Fly Dubai, and Nepal Airlines all landed at the GBIA, bringing in a surge of passengers and enhancing connectivity for Nepal’s Lumbini region.

Jazeera Airways inaugurated its operations at the GBIA with a flight carrying 171 passengers and will operate three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, as stated by Pratap Babu Tiwari, GBIA’s General Manager. Fly Dubai will provide daily flights to the airport, while Nepal Airlines, Nepal’s national flag carrier, will conduct three weekly flights to and from Dubai on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.

With these three carriers now operating at the airport, GBIA has attracted a total of four international airlines, including Thai AirAsia, which launched services earlier this year. The increased international connectivity underscores GBIA’s role in bolstering tourism and facilitating easier access to the nearby UNESCO World Heritage site in Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.
