Government Aims to Expedite Kathmandu-Kerung Railway Feasibility Study
The government has announced plans to accelerate the feasibility study of the Kathmandu-Kerung railway project, a much-anticipated endeavor. President Ramchandra Paudel unveiled this initiative while presenting the government’s policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year of 2081/082 BS at the federal parliament today.
The policy also outlines several other infrastructure priorities aimed at enhancing transportation networks across the country. Notable measures include the construction of the Kathmandu-Madhesh fast track, along with underpasses and overpasses in congested areas along the Kathmandu ring road. Additionally, plans are in place to construct bridges over key rivers along highways, complete ongoing bridge and road projects, and prioritize road safety measures to reduce accidents and injuries.
Furthermore, the government intends to conduct surveys for various railway lines, including the Jaynagar–Janakpur–Bardibas railway line, Birtanagar railway line, East-West Railway Line, Kerung-Kathmandu, and Raxaul-Kathmandu railway line, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to infrastructure development aimed at fostering connectivity and economic growth.
