Government Taskforce Meeting on Transitional Justice Bill Takes Place at Ministry of Home Affairs
A crucial meeting of the taskforce formed by the government to address the bill related to transitional justice is being held today at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singha Durbar.
The meeting is attended by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, CPN (UML) parliamentary party chief whip Mahesh Bartaula, and CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Janardan Sharma. Also present are Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajaya Kumar Chaurasiya and Chair of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee of Parliament Bimala Subedi.
The taskforce has previously reached a consensus in principle on the transitional justice bill, which aims to address issues related to past human rights violations and provide a framework for justice and reconciliation. Today’s meeting is expected to further refine and advance the bill towards implementation.
