Government Urged to Accelerate Construction of Residences for Quake-Affected Communities
Kathmandu, November 11: The State Affairs and Good-Governance Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ for the government’s swift response in the rescue and treatment operations following the Jajarkot Earthquake on November 3.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Prachanda on Saturday, the committee, led by President Ramhari Khatiwada, lauded the PM’s visit to the affected areas and the efficient rescue and treatment initiatives. The committee members commended the government’s promptness, emphasizing that the completion of rescue operations within 13 hours was a testament to the Prime Minister’s quick decision-making.
President Khatiwada stated, “We visited the affected sites and held discussions. Everyone has praised the PM’s visit to the field and the measures taken for the rescue and treatment of the injured and affected ones.” He expressed gratitude to the government on behalf of the committee for its proactive response.
Committee member and UML lawmaker Krishna Gopal Shrestha also commended the Prime Minister’s swift actions, describing them as highly inspiring and a demonstration of the government’s commitment. Shrestha stated, “You made us realize the serious presence of the government. I highly appreciate this.”
In response to the committee’s report, Prime Minister Prachanda assured that the recommendations would be carefully studied and implemented. The committee urged the government to ensure effective relief operations and expedite the reconstruction of properties affected by the earthquake in the impacted districts.
